Historic Cotton Gin Factory
Built in the early 20th century for cotton fiber separation and storage, this wooden-roofed stone structure now serves as a laboratory, archive, and storage facility for the archaeological world. The restoration was meticulously carried out under the supervision of the Adana Regional Cultural Heritage Board.
Research Objectives
The Center focuses on transition periods from Late Antiquity to the Early Islamic Period, and from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age (c. 1200 BC). The primary goal is the documentation and sustainable preservation of this 9,000-year-old heritage within its urban and natural environment.
Awarded in the Cultural Heritage Conservation category for the original new use of the site and the functional integration of industrial heritage into the urban context.
